NEW SUPER LUIGI U REVIEW

Well, it's been 10 months since my last review, but I decided I wanted to do another one, this time for a recently released game!

New Super Luigi U is a DLC expansion for New Super Mario Bros. U. However, Nintendo released a standalone version of the game (which is what I will be reviewing).

Alright, well let's not waste any time and get started with the review!

  • PLOT:
Princess Peach is kidnapped by Bowser and his Koopa Kids. Instead of Mario, Luigi is the star of the show this time around!
  • GRAPHICS:
Beautiful HD graphics that fit well with the game. They are definitely a step up from previous Mario games.

  • GAMEPLAY:
New Super Luigi U is definitely not a walk in the park. In fact, it is possibly the hardest Mario game ever. In every level your platforming skills will be put to the test. Also, if you have friends over you can play co-op multiplayer. In co-op you can play as Luigi, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, and because Mario is not in this adventure, Nabbit takes his place. Nabbit's advantage is that he can run straight past enemies, however, he cannot collect any power ups. Also, in co-op you can use the same Boost Mode that was introduced in New Super Mario Bros. U.

  • CONTROLS:
You can play the game with the Wii Remote, Wii U GamePad or Wii U Pro Controller. I personally prefer the Pro Controller, but all 3 options work just fine.

  • SOUND:
The soundtrack is the same as New Super Mario Bros. U's, and it still holds up well and is fun to listen to as you are playing the game.

  • SUMMARY:
If you are a fan of Mario games, or platforming games in general, you will definitely like this. Be warned though, this is not an easy game, but that is not a bad thing. I give this game:

9.5/10

Mario Kart 64 Review

So I had a change of plans, haha. I decided why not start my awesome review blog with a review of a game that is very close to my heart. That game is Mario Kart 64 for the Nintendo 64.

My reviews will have 5 main topics, and an overall maximum score of 10.

P.S. Please forgive if my review sucks. I'm just starting out. My goal is to make short and sweet reviews.

Mario Kart 64 Review

  • PLOT:
Mario and his friends (And villains) go kart racing. That is all.

  • GRAPHICS:
Good for 1997. A lot of artifacts are 2D though, but they fit well.

  • GAMEPLAY:
Well polished, however the rubber band AI makes it frustrating at times. Multiplayer is amazing however. Playing battle mode with a friend/with friends is one of the best experiences you can have with a game. The character selection was a measly 8 characters compared to the 24 we got in Mario Kart Wii, however the characters themselves are great. The 16 courses are beautiful and well designed and the items in the game are classic and get the job done.

  • CONTROLS:
Very unique for its time. Good use of the N64 controller (For example the Z button on the back of the controller is used to shoot items, and the C buttons are used for camera control and HUD control)

  • SOUND:
Wonderful soundtrack. Some of the best songs to come out of video games come from this game, such as the Rainbow Road theme.

  • SUMMARY:
Although it isn't perfect, Mario Kart 64 is an amazing game that is a must-have for any Mario or racing fan. I give this game:

9/10
